19th Venice Backgammon Tournament WinnerAfter 4 days of playing backgammon at the Casino of Venice in Italy, the 19th City of Venice International Backgammon Tournament is over with an official winner: Damian Plesec.
Damien, from Slovenia, had won the final against Masahito Yamamoto.
Funny thing about his winning is the fact that he planned on registering for the intermediate tournament, thinking he’s not “strong enough” to compete other backgammon players on the champion competition. Anyway, as you all should know - Damien had won the tournament, in which in addition to the money prize he got, he won a free entry to the first event of the European Backgammon Tour 2008.
Among the excellent backgammon players who had participated in the Venice tourney there were two backgammon players of Play65 group who arrived to the event thanks to their previous winnings at the Play65 satellite qualifier.
Both Giuseppe Ricciardi and Michael Schmidt, who played against each other, had won a free entry to the tourney plus spending money and accommodation arrangement – all set by Play65 backgammon site. Giuseppe Ricciardi, by the way, won the double championship.
Congratulation to all!
