Aspiration and Achievements at the Trinidad Backgammon ClubCan Trinidad Backgammon Club do to the small islands of Trinidad and Tobago what the national football team has done in the 2006 FIFA World Cup? In the meantime, the monthly Trinidad backgammon tournament held on March 31, 2009 at the Sweet Lime Restaurant in Woodbrook, drew many of the local backgammon fans. The tournament winner, Shoshanna Lall, who has been playing a backgammon tournament for the first time, outplayed the more experienced Daniel Khan, who has not missed a single game during the backgammon club current season.
Trinidad Backgammon Club hosts backgammon tournament for the sake of the many of local supporters of the game on every last Thursday of every month (additional events are planned for the near future). The love of backgammon in Trinidad and Tobago crosses all cultural and racial boundaries and comes from the small Caribbean islands diverse ethnic groups, from its original Afro-Trinidadians and Indo-Trinidadians citizens to the minority of Arab-Trinidadian, mostly immigrants from Syria and Lebanon.
The enduring environment of the Trinidad Backgammon Club found expression in the recent monthly tourney, where the brand new comer and fresh champion Shoshanna Lall was paired with the veteran club member and advocate Daniel Kahn, and with lots of skill and a little bit of luck, managed to defeat him and grab the monthly tournament victory of the backgammon club.
