Backgammon by the BayBackgammon by the Bay (BGBB) is a Californian backgammon club that organizes weekly meetings in several locations around San Francisco bay. Backgammon by the Bay is mostly known for its monthly tournaments in which many of the greatest backgammon players of the area take part.
Backgammon by the Bay Tournaments
Backgammon by the Bay tournaments are open to every backgammon enthusiast in the bay area. However, club members enjoy reduced tournament fees and they can accumulate "Brownie Points", the BGBB equivalent of rating points used in backgammon clubs and online backgammon sites. The backgammon club member with the largest number of "Brownie Points" will be rewarded with a tray of freshly baked brownies (as well as a trophy and a cash prize).
Monthly tournament at Peking Express – held at a Chinese restaurant in Berkley, California, BGBB tournaments take place on the second Saturday of every month. Entry fees range from $15 for beginners to $40 for intermediate and $80 for participants in the open division. Monthly Tournament at Britannia Arms – on the fourth Saturday of each month, Backgammon by the Bay holds a backgammon tournament at Britannia Arms, pub and restaurant in Cupertino. Tournament entry fees are as listed in the previous paragraph. On top of Backgammon by the Bay backgammon tournaments, the backgammon club hosts weekly chouettes. On Monday nights at 6PM, in Kona Lounge, Oakland and on Wednesdays, 7PM at Seattle's Best at Borders, San Jose.
