Backgammon Player Caught Cheating

A Georgian backgammon player was caught using a manipulated dice, in which 5s have replaced the 2s. This catch happened on Sunday, June 22, 2008 on the last day of the Partouche Gammon Tour at the Casino Forges-les-Eaux in Normandy, France. According to suspicions, the player has been playing with the manipulated dice in several backgammon tournaments during the last year.

Badri Tsertsvadze of the Republic of Georgia was caught by the security guard of Partouche Casino in France with a DIY die with two of its faces are marked with the number 5 and without the number 2. Tsertsvadze was convicted for attempted fraud in front of the local jurisdiction and he will face a judge at the Dieppe Court in Normandy on December 4, 2008.

Tsertsvadze played in a number of backgammon tournaments over the last year. It suspected that the rigged dice has accompanied him at the French Open Masters, where he reached number 1, and at the 19th City Of Venice International Backgammon Tournament, in which he won the first place at the Last Chance division.

Following the catch of the manipulated dice at the prestigious backgammon event, Eric Guedj, the Director of the PartoucheGammon Tour, has initiated collaboration with other tournament directors from around the world to establish an international backgammon authority that will enforce, among other things, security rules.
