Backgammon Player Wins in a Poker TournamentArnaud Mattern, a backgammon player of France, was the surprising winner of the European Poker Tour Prague Main Event. Mattern, who has been playing in a poker tournament for the first time, took home 708,400 Euro and the championship title.
Some of the world's top poker players took part in the PokerStars.net European Poker Tour Prague Main Event including WSOP Main Event champion Annette Obrestad , 2007 WSOP bracelet winner Julian Thew and more. The title was taken by a backgammon pro who has been playing in a cash poker tournament for the first time in his life.
The PokerStars.net European Poker Tour Prague took place at the Hilton Hotel in Prague, the Czech Republic over the last weekend. More than 500 poker players entered the poker event. The final table included Mikael Norinder, Dag Palovic, Kristian Kjondal, Gino Alacqua, Juha Lauttaumus, Markus Golser, Johan Strassman, Nedzib Suman and Arnaud Mattern, the poker- backgammon champion of the event.
