Backgmmon Glossary - D to HDefensive Counterattack Double Double Game Doublets or Doubles Doubling Cube Gammon Grand Coup Half Grand Coup Hit DEFENSIVE COUNTERATTACK: A strategy in plakoto and moultezim that is called for when your opponent has gained an early advantage. DOUBLE: To increase the game bet to twice the previous amount. DOUBLE GAME: See Gammon. DOUBLETS OR DOUBLES: When both dice of a throw show the same number. This number is then played four times. DOUBLING CUBE: A large die that is used to keep track of doubles. Its faces show the numbers 2,4, 8, 16, 32, and 64. GAMMON: A game in which the loser has not been able to bear off any of his pieces. The winner scores double the stakes. GRAND COUP: A moultezim term denoting a prime in your opponent's tables, with some of his pieces trapped behind it. HALF GRAND COUP: A moultezim term denoting a prime formed partly in your opponent's outer table and partly inside your own home. HIT: When you land on an opponent's blot forcing him off the board to the bar. This term is used only in hit. HOME, HOME TABLE, OR HOME BOARD: Your own first six itions.
