Greek Backgammon Federation 3rd Tournament WinnerFilomila Karantzali is the winner of the third backgammon tournament of the Greek Backgammon Federation. The young woman of Thessaloniki outplayed all 34 men who took part in the event including Greece's number one backgammon player George Kleitsas who've reached third at this backgammon tournament.
The third tournament in the series of Greek Backgammon Federation monthly events took place on Saturday, January 5, 2008, with 35 entrants (as opposed to the 20 entrants of the previous event). Filomila Karantzali, the winner of the 3rd monthly tournament was also the only woman backgammon player at the event.
Filomila Karantzali backgammon tournaments experience includes the UK Masters backgammon tournament, which took place last November in London, as part of the World Series of Backgammon. Karantzali is also heading to Copenhagen, where she will participate at the second 2007-8 WSOB event, the Nordic Open, scheduled to March 20-24, 2008.
The Greek Backgammon Federation tournaments are ranking tournaments that effect on the national ranking list (Hellenic Ranking List). The Hellenic National Ranking List is still headed by Kleitsas George, winner of last month's backgammon tournament, with 70 points and total of 12 wins out of 15. The next monthly backgammon tournament will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2008.
