Greek Backgammon Federation Monthly– 5th Tournament ResultsThe 5th backgammon tournament of the Greek Backgammon Federation was held on March 9th at Cafe Aias in Athens, Greece. This time, the tournament drew 36 participants including two Romanian players. The championship title was taken by Antonis Vamvakaris, who is currently ranked number 10 at the Hellenic National Ranking List.
Theodoros Dimakis, who took part in the Greek Federation monthly backgammon tournament for the first time, was the runner up at the March event. Surprisingly, the guy was not disappointed from his lost and instead he expressed his excitement from getting to the final match at the tournament. The Consolation Division was won, for the second time in a row, by Stefanos Bonanos who had climbed to the 11th spot at the ranking list, one spot away from Greece's top ten players.
The Greek Backgammon Federation’s 5th monthly tournament was joined by 10 brand new players. Theodoros Dimakis, the tournament runner up, is one of them. 71 different backgammon players from all over Greece took part in the Greek Backgammon Federation tourneys ever since this monthly tradition was established. However, the top of the Hellenic National List remained the same: the list is still topped by Athens man Klitsas Giorgos, having total 107 points and record of 17 wins out of 23 matches.
