Most Controversial Online Game of All Times?

A video game based on Lars von Trier latest film Antichrist, which tells the story of a couple who following their child's death seclude themselves to a cabin in the woods where they are haunted by a stranger and displays sexual and sexual violent scenes in the most explicit manner, is expected to draw more controversies than all of GTA releases all together. The planned game director, Dane von Trier's compatriot Morten Iversen, promised (to MTV Multiplayer) that Eden is going to be "a very controversial game, and it'll be a game that doesn't really compare with anything else."

Movies based on online games are a sure recipe for disappointment; similarly, games that followed the path of a hit movie have hardly lived up to the expectations, even if you are not old enough to recall Atari's E.T. Phone Home! Anyway, the only way Eden is going to let down the fans of Lars von Trier and his recent creation, which was described by the Cannes festival ecumenical jury as "the most misogynist movie from the self-proclaimed biggest director in the world" is by not receiving a rating system of its own.

However, the rating system is not what worries the game publisher, (and Von Trier’s production company) Zentropa, which decided to release the game in a downloadable version only, open to collaboration with online multiplayer gaming services such as Xbox Live (and not negating cooperation with Microsoft's new Project Natal, if the other party would live with the "chopping of axes" parts of the game).

In the meantime, the design phase of the game is done, and the four developers' team is working on a horrifying game environment to equivalent with Antichrist's dark and terrifying air. For example, the players will forced to confront with their darkest private fears, as some of the phobias they will be asked to reveal in their profile page will be used against them as part of the game play.
