New Book on Online Games Culture![]() This Gaming Life: Travels in Three Cities is a new non-fiction book that reviews the online gaming culture in three different places across the continent: UK, South Korea and Iceland. The book, written by British game journalist Jim Rossignol, opens a window to unknown worlds such as the competitive gaming environment in Korea and the creation of EVE Online in Iceland. The book brings up wide variety of topics, yet in the bottom line it arrives to the conclusion that gaming has a major impact on gamers' lives. The book brings the reader to get to know people whose entire lives surround around gaming who cannot underestimate the influence of gaming on their being. For example, one of This Gaming Life episodes, the one that reveals the gaming scene based in London tells the story of an introvert child who used to hide behind online games who became a self confident adult who works as a game designer. At one of the peak moments of the book, he tells about playing Guitar Hero right before Guns & Roses at the Donnington Rock Festival in the UK. In an interview with the online gaming magazine Kotaku, Jim Rossignol, the author of This Gaming Life says his book approaches everyone who is interested in the gaming culture. He also expresses hope that the book would open the minds of devoted gamers and those who look at playing games as a total waste of time and would offer them a brand new point of view on the subject.
