GameAccount Nordic Open qualifiers have begun on January 25 and will continue until March 22, a week before the opening of the 22nd Nordic Open event, and will be divided into daily sub-qualifiers with €5.5 entry fees and a weekly final with €44 buy-in.

2009 Nordic Open
GameAccount, which has recently purchased Money Gaming and brought the online games website back to life, is now taking over the Nordic Open, one of the most important backgammon events in Europe. On top of hosting daily qualifiers for €800 Nordic Backgammon Open seat(s), Casino Rip, one of GameAccount subsidiary websites, appears as the tournament sponsor.
Casino Rip has been trying to establish itself among the dedicated backgammon sites for some time now. During the past year, it has sponsored major live backgammon events such as the 34th Monte Carlo World Backgammon Championship and all of UK backgammon events organized by BIBA. Still, Casino Rip seems to be trudging through shallow water, hardly threatening serious backgammon rooms.
The Nordic Open started out 22 years ago as a minor local event for the faithful Scandinavian backgammon community, grew to be a 5-days international event, drawing hotshot players from all over the world; thus, forcing the organizing body, the Danish Backgammon Federation to raise more funds. Last year, the Nordic Open was under the auspices of Play65 backgammon room, and a year earlier, it was integrated with the WSOB tour. In 2010, the backgammon tournament returns to the Danish capital, and it will take place Scandic Copenhagen hotel in the center of the city from April 1st to 5th.
